Adopt a Resolution Authorizing and Appropriating CARES Act Funding for Emergency Response to Novel (New) Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Amount of $1,979,381
RECOMMENDATION
That Council adopts a resolution (Attachment II) authorizing and appropriating Coronavirus Aide, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding in the amount of $1,979,381 for continued response to COVID-19 related community and emergency supply needs.
SUMMARY
On March 17, 2020, the City Council adopted a resolution ratifying a local emergency due to the ongoing spread of a severe acute respiratory illness in Alameda County caused by a novel coronavirus (COVID-19). At that time, Council authorized the appropriation of $3 million from the General Fund Reserve fund to address growing concerns within the Hayward community regarding the sudden onset of COVID-19. On July 21, 2020, the City Council approved a resolution authorizing and appropriating an additional $1 million in emergency response funding.
This report requests that the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing and appropriating the City’s allocation of $1,979,381 in CARES Act funding from the State of California.
