City Council Member Handbook: Review Sections of the Handbook and Provide Direction to Staff Regarding Update or Changes
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council reviews sections of the Council Member Handbook and provides direction for changes or updates.
SUMMARY
In the survey for the February 20, 2021 City Council Retreat, Council Members expressed an interest in discussing the following sections of the Council Member Handbook: Council Referrals; Boards, Commissions, Committees, and Task Force; City Council; Council Committees; and Policy Regarding City Council Expression. At least one member expressed an interest in discussing the following sections: Council Liaison; Motions; Ordinances; Proclamations; Quasi-Judicial Hearings; and Rules, Decorum, and Order. This item was originally on the February 20th agenda retreat but was not discussed due to lack of time. Questions and specific topics of suggested discussion regarding the Council Member Handbook can be sent ahead of time to City Clerk Lens. The discussion this evening will be facilitated by Julia Novak, who facilitated the February 20th retreat.
