Recommendation
That the City Council adopts a resolution (Attachment II) reappointing Council Member Syrop to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) Board of Trustees for a two-year term beginning January 6, 2025, and ending December 31, 2026, in accordance with California Health and Safety Code, District 3 Pest Abatement, Chapter 1 Mosquito Abatement and Vector Control Districts, Article 3 Boards of Trustees and Officers, Section 2024(a).

SUMMARY
On May 16, 2023, the City Council appointed Council Member Syrop as the City of Hayward's representative on the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) to fill the reminder term left by former Council Member M?rquez which would run through December 31, 2024.
Council Member Syrop has served as the City of Hayward's representative on the ACMAD Board of Trustees, bringing significant leadership and expertise to the role. During his tenure, Council Member Syrop has made valuable contributions in the areas of improved community outreach, labor relations, public education, and community representation-critical aspects of protecting Alameda County residents from the risks associated with mosquito-borne diseases.
In accordance with Health and Safety Code Section 2024(a), the term of office for a member of the ACMAD Board of Trustees shall be for a term of two or four years, at the discretion of the appointing authority. Terms commence at noon on the first Monday in January.
