RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
That the Council adopts a resolution (Attachment II) authorizing the City Manager to provide financial assistance in the form of a loan in the amount of $50,000 as part of the Economic Development Division’s Small Business Loan Program to Casa Del Toro, LLC to assist with the interior and exterior façade improvements at 1034 - 1036 B Street for the new Casa Del Toro restaurant.

SUMMARY
Casa Del Toro is a new restaurant concept specializing in Mexican/Latin American Cuisine. This will provide a new destination for visitors in the downtown and add to the variety of restaurant and entertainment venues in the surrounding area. This restaurant will aid the City of Hayward in efforts to revitalize the downtown from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff recommends that the Council adopts a resolution authorizing the City Manager to provide a $50,000 small business loan to Casa Del Toro, LLC to complete exterior and interior façade improvements to the restaurant site.
