That the Council Economic Development Committee (CEDC) accepts this informational report on the analysis of Hayward’s housing and rental market.End
SUMMARY
Per the request of CEDC members, Housing Division staff will conduct a presentation that provides an analysis of Hayward’s housing and rental market at the February 5th CEDC meeting. This presentation will include comparisons to other East Bay cities - Oakland, Alameda, Fremont, and Dublin. It will also include a sociodemographic community profile of each city, a breakdown of median asking rents, and median sales prices. The presentation will provide a breakdown of 2023 median sales prices as they relate to attached units (single-family) and detached units (townhouses and condominiums) and various price ranges units have sold for. Lastly, this analysis will indicate the minimum income required for prospective renters and homebuyers.
