Recommendation
That Council receives the FY 2017 Operating Budget in preparation for the FY 2017 Budget review and approval process.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Proposed FY 2017 Operating Budget is hereby presented to City Council. Tonight is simply a presentation of the document and its contents. The Council will consider the annual budget over the next eight weeks prior to adopting the FY 2017 budget on June 28, 2016. The highlights of the Proposed FY 2017 Operating Budget can be found in the City Manager’s Budget Message & Budget Overview in the front of the document and included herein as Attachments I and II. The full FY 2017 Proposed Budget document will be available on-line on the City’s web site after 5:00 pm, Monday, May 2, 2016 and in hard copy on May 3, 2016.
NEXT STEPS
Upcoming opportunities for public input and comment are:
- Saturday, May 21: all-day Special Session of Council, including Departmental presentations
- Tuesday, June 21: Budget hearing on operating and capital budgets at regular Council meeting
- Tuesday, June 28: Public Hearing on operating and capital budgets
