Recommendation

That the City Council reviews seven requests for reappointment; and confirms the process for interviews on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.

BACKGROUND

The annual recruitment for Boards/Commission/Committees/Task Forces was conducted from April 21 through July 15, 2016, to fill twenty-two vacancies. Thirty-three applications were received by the deadline and thirty-one applicants qualified to be considered for appointment. Attachment I contains the list of applicants and their preference for service. A binder containing the applications is available for public review upon request.

DISCUSSION

The following presents additional information to Council as they enter into the reappointment and selection process.

Reappointments: Staff has completed the review of those members whose terms are up on the various Boards and Commissions. The following table summarizes the current vacancies and identifies those interested in and qualified for reappointment:


KHCG: On July 18, 2016, the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force (KHCG) Subcommittee, comprising Members Natasha Neves, Jillian Hogan, Angelica Moore and Megha Salpekar interviewed applicants who have indicated KHCG as one of their preferences for service. Applicants selected by the Subcommittee will be recommended to the City Council.

Interview Process: Council Members have expressed a desire to continue to streamline the interview process which involves a "pre-screening" process that would allow the City Council to narrow the field of candidates to be interviewed.
