SUMMARY

For the past several years, the City’s Fire Department has received a sub-recipient grant through Alameda County’s State Homeland Security Grant Program to run its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Staff is requesting that Council authorizes the acceptance and appropriation of this funding source for the next five years, not to exceed $30,000 each year. If the Council authorizes this action, staff will appropriate the funding into the Fire Department’s budget and provide CERT program services per the terms and conditions of the grant.
