Recommendation
That the City Council elects the Mayor Pro Tempore for 2019.
SUMMARY
It is the Council’s policy to elect the Mayor Pro Tempore to perform the duties of the Mayor during his or her absence or disability. The current term was based on the fiscal year of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. Due to the change in election dates from June to November, approved by voters in June 2016, the term of Mayor Pro Temp Márquez was extended by a period of six months to align with the general municipal election held in November 2018. The next term of the Mayor Pro Temp will be based on the calendar year of January 1, 2019 through December 30, 2019.
