RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
That the Council adopts the attached resolution (Attachment II):
1. Approving Addendum No. 1, providing clarifications to the plans and specifications for the Fire Station 6 and Fire Training Center Project: Abatement and Deconstruction of Existing Buildings; and
2. Awarding the contract to Evans Brothers, Inc., in the amount of $246,300 and authorizing the expenditure of up to $425,000 for the total project, including contingencies.
SUMMARY
In order to construct the new Fire Station 6 and Fire Training Center, which is anticipated to begin later this year, the existing buildings at the current site will need to be deconstructed. Based on the materials sampling and testing conducted, hazardous materials abatement is required of these buildings prior to deconstruction. On April 2, 2019, seven (7) bids were received for the project. Staff recommends award of contract to the responsible low bidder, Evans Brothers, Inc., in the amount of $246,300.
