Adopt a Resolution Awarding a Construction Contract to Kerex Engineering, Inc., for the FY22 Median Landscape Improvement Project, Project No. 05315 in the Amount of $645,235 and Authorizing a Construction Contingency Change Order Budget of $154,765
RECOMMENDATION
That Council adopts a resolution (Attachment II) awarding the construction contract to Kerex Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $645,235 for the FY22 Median Landscape Improvement Project (#05315) and authorizing a construction contingency change order budget of $154,765.
SUMMARY
On June 16, 2021, three bids were received for the FY22 Median Landscape Improvement Project for the median located on Hesperian Boulevard from La Playa Drive to W. Winton Avenue. Kerex Engineering, Inc., of Martinez CA submitted the low bid in the amount of $645,235, which is 11.34% lower than the Engineer’s Estimate of $727,753. Marina Landscape, Inc., submitted the second lowest bid in the amount of $793,450, which is 9.03% higher than the Engineer’s Estimate. Sposeto Engineering, Inc., submitted the third bid in the amount of $879,081, which is 20.79% higher than the Engineer’s Estimate.
This project is categorically exempt for environmental review under Section 15301(c) of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines for the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing facilities.
