Adopt a Resolution Awarding a Contract to Western Systems for the Purchase of Eleven Traffic Signal Controller Cabinets with Battery Backup Systems in an Amount Not-to-Exceed $149,992
RECOMMENDATION
That Council adopts the attached resolution (Attachment II) awarding a contract to Western Systems, in an amount not-to-exceed $149,992, for the purchase of eleven traffic signal controller cabinets with Battery Backup Systems (BBS).
SUMMARY
The City currently has eleven existing traffic signal controller cabinets that are damaged and need to be replaced. In addition, the existing controller cabinets do not have a Battery Backup System (BBS) integrated with the cabinet. Staff has received three bids for the eleven traffic signal controller cabinets and battery backup systems. The lowest bid is from Western Systems in the amount of $149,992. The other two bids are from Western Pacific Signal and Jam Services for $158,934 and $202,230, respectively.
Staff is requesting Council approve a contract with Western Systems in the not-to-exceed amount of $149,992 for the purchase of eleven traffic signal controller cabinets and associated battery backup systems. The installation of these controller cabinets and battery backup systems will be performed by City staff.
