SUBJECT

Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Agreement with Iteris, Inc., to Procure the Video Detection System for the Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System for Several Intersections on Jackson Street and West Winton Avenue in an Amount Not-To-Exceed $130,000

RECOMMENDATION

That the Council adopts a resolution (Attachment II) authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Iteris, Inc., to procure the video detection system for the Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) for several intersections on Jackson Street and West Winton Avenue in an amount not-to-exceed $130,000.

SUMMARY

As part of the City’s continued effort to improve the City’s traffic signal system, SCATS will be added to four existing traffic signals along Jackson Street and one at West Winton Avenue. This agreement is for the procurement of the Iteris video detection system, which includes 5 years of service. This implementation will improve traffic flow, reduce traffic time, result in less congestion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, allow faster response times to resident concerns, and provide collection of traffic data.
