Recommendation
That the Council Economic Development Committee (CEDC) receives the presentation from Captain Dan Olsen of the Hayward Police Department, who will provide an oral report on Hayward Police Department Business Crime Statistics and Response Services.

SUMMARY
This agenda item comes as a referral request from CEDC members. Captain Dan Olsen will discuss Hayward Police Department business crime statistics and response services. At the CEDC meeting on February 5, 2024, Economic Development staff asked CEDC members to clarify topics for the Hayward Police Department to address. Topics to be discussed will include how HPD addresses various aspects of security and crime prevention for businesses, including break-ins, tactics or programs designed to educate business on crime prevention methods/store designs, HPD’s interactions with neighborhood programs, and privacy concerns with surveillance cameras. HPD will also provide statistics on crime impacting businesses.
