City Council Priority Setting Retreat
RECOMMENDATION
That the Council reviews the attached working agenda and engages in a dialogue about strategic priorities and initiatives for Hayward.
SUMMARY
During this Saturday work session, the Council will engage with staff and the consultant, CivicMakers, to work towards the following desired outcomes:
• Establish shared understanding of progress and lessons learned since the adoption of 2017-2019 Strategic Initiatives and other special projects, as well as of current internal and external opportunities and challenges
• Begin to create a shared working model of an ideal, yet still realistic picture of the City in 3- to 5-years
• Create a draft list of priority areas and supporting projects needed to accomplish the Council’s vision for next 3- to 5-years
• Decide on next steps about how to use and build on the vision and priority area feedback
The attached working agenda includes a rough outline and timeline for the day as well as links to a variety of reference documents that might be useful to the Council in the discussion regarding visioning and priorities.
